“She has strengths that no one will ever know how she can handle troubles and carry heavy burdens,
She holds happiness, love, and opinions,
She smiles when she feels like screaming,
She sings when she feels like crying,
She cries when she is happy and laughs when she is afraid,
Her love is UNCONDITIONAL.”

There is only one thing wrong with her that she sometimes forgets what her worth is!

Today, I am impulsed to write about ‘Women Empowerment’. ‘Women Empowerment’ is the ability of women to exercise full control over one’s actions.

We have a vision that “We will create a society, where women are equal partners like men.”

But are we working upon it?

Right from childhood, a woman is made restricted to some actions as compared to men. Though the last decades have witnessed some basic changes in the status and role of women in our society. There has been a shift in policy approaches from the concept of “WELFARE” in the ’70s to “DEVELOPMENT” in the ’80s and now to “EMPOWERMENT” after the ‘90s.

Empowerment would become more relevant if every single woman is educated, better informed and can make rational decisions.

Most of the women work in almost every sector still gender differences persist across industries. And the women are somehow exploited at various levels.

Women bear almost all responsibility for meeting the basic needs of the family yet the vast majority of the worlds poor are women. Two-third of the world’s illiterates are females.

In some areas, of the millions of children not in school, the majority are girls. Today crime is committed against a woman every 7 minutes. Every 54 minutes, somewhere a woman is harassed, every 43 minutes a woman is kidnapped and every 102 minutes a dowry death occurs.

ERIC GORDWE has nicely written;
“There’s a special place in hell for men who abuse women.”

and in the words of MADELYN ALBRIGHT;
“There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.”

Do you know what the problem is ???

Most people are satisfied, satisfied with a world in which “Survival of the fittest”, “Might is right”, “Competition is required” and “Winning” is called the HIGHEST GOOD.

We produce such a system and educate our children accordingly.
And you know what?

Such a model produces people who are often killed when they’re judged “WRONG”, starved and rendered homeless when they’re called “ LOSERS “ & oppressed and exploited when they’re not “ STRONG “

On the contrary, it makes me happy that few people understand the rhythms of life. Women live their whole lives by rhythm. They’re in rhythm with life itself.

Of course, I am speaking in generalities.
I am speaking in the broadest terms.

But If you look at life, if you admit to yourself what you’re seeing, have seen, if you acknowledge what is so, you may find truth in this GENERALITY.

And mind it! I am not going to condemn men here, not at all.
I am not saying “A woman is better than a man.”

As hot is no better than cold, up no better than down. So, there is firmness and softness in each of you. Express and experience that aspect of yourself which gratifies you.

Respect her, love her. She deserves it!
